Maker Monday: An aspire Exclusive Interview With Katrin Fridriks

A Reykjavik native, Katrin Fridriks is an abstract painter who explores speed, gravity and the interactions of human beings with the forces of nature. Fridriks’ artistic work focuses on the exploration of natural phenomena and the limits of human dexterity. Experimenting with both techniques and the strength and agility of her own body, Fridriks continuously pushes the limits of painterly expression. She has developed a set of different techniques in connection with her explorations, many of which she now combines to create works of art that are truly unique. Her notoriety is mainly based on her paintings and painterly installations, one of which is installed at the Olympic stadium in Nîmes, but land art has also been an important element of her work. The presentation of her painterly creations often takes the form of site-specific installations that exceed the limits of painting traditionally conceived. Having different layers that unfold over time, each new contemplation is rewarding and gives way to discoveries. Learn more about Katrin Fridriks in today’s Maker Monday.

Andrew Joseph: What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on and how did you overcome it?
Katrin Fridriks: Waste Edition was probably the most complex research to create and produce with Avant Arte, maybe not the most challenging but complex. Here’s a link to watch a video for its presentation. We were dealing with several concepts within a concept, the technical aspect with the printer, choices of rare organic papers to print with specific textures to align each concept within the box, the thickness of each project to contain, adding an original paint piece which had different thicknesses within the box. You always find a solution but some projects are extremely time-consuming when dealing with something never done.

AJ: How do you stay creative and inspired?
KF: Cosmic history, astral traveling, bending time and space, remote viewing, consciously mind-scraping everything regarding the cosmos, universe, what is our mission, our eternal soul, power of thought, transmission, music, nature, travel, family and friends. I am lucky, I have an incredible team, always inspired and always ready for new adventures.

AJ: What is your favorite aspect of your job?
KF: Seeing people joyful, mesmerized and feeling my works’ energy, connecting in this vast cosmos, that’s the ultimate. You really feel happiness and inspiration and that’s an honor.

AJ: What was the last book you read and how did it inspire you?
KF: Ashayana Deane’s Voyagers I + II; such an awakening. Ascension mechanics, cosmic history, and true krystic mystery school teachings… incredible, like astral traveling.

AJ: Can you tell us about a specific moment in your career that made you feel accomplished?
KF: Life is an eternal research laboratory, all those different accomplishments of pushing new innovations in abstraction through color, new shapes, forms, working on bending paint with different angles and speeds, and now moreover adding spirituality, connecting spaces. My most memorable event was on a Palindrome day 2.2.2020, I astral traveled through different dimensions and densities and from this experience, I created a whole exhibition named “A certain blue enters your soul“. It absolutely changed my life.

AJ: Style (or design) icon and why?
KF: Iris Van Herpen and Zaha Hadid. I am in awe of their organic pioneering vision, redefining architecture, space, design, they are absolute giants in their fields, recreating mother nature at its best, elegantly and well aligned, I love it. And early days of Martin Margiela. I am a huge fan. But my absolute favorite icon is Nikola Tesla: Visionaire, my cosmic innovator.

AJ: Best advice you’d give your teenage self?
KF: You can manifest anything you wish with the power of thought and high frequency from your heart, you really need to believe in it, speak it out loud 3 times and by saying “and so it is, and so it is, and so it be”. Materialism versus consciousness, become aware of all the things you can achieve with the power of thought. Have a look at Marina Jacobi’s work such as Harmonic Reactor, she’s very scientific and technical. Also, I highly recommend reading “The Gods of Eden” by William Bramley, a must read!

AJ: What would your dream project or dream client be right now?
KF: God/Source and ascending into 5D and higher, becoming pure energy, remembering past lives and my mission is in this life. Elevate awareness and awakening to humanity. End wars.
