Having grown up with both parents working in the design and architecture industry, Noah Morse witnessed the power of design from an early age and discovered his creative mind. After graduating from the University of British Columbia, a final year thesis on 20th Century Furniture Design brought him to work in high-end design at Inform Interiors for over a decade. Moving into a management role and traveling extensively throughout Europe and North America, Noah developed a breadth of experience, offering insight into furniture design, curation, and more. After leaving Inform, Noah worked alongside a colleague designing product and forming Untitled Design Agency in Vancouver. Later, Noah set out to co-found Sundays, where he continues to work as Head of Product. He currently resides with his wife and son in West Vancouver. See Noah’s products in today’s Maker Monday.

Andrew Joseph: What inspired you to become a designer?
Noah Morse: I grew up where everything in our home, from the dining chairs to the tablecloth and cutlery, had a story behind being there. I learned from an early age that the home is an expression of who you are and the objects that you interact with on a daily basis should carry more meaning. I found that so fascinating.

AJ: Can you tell us about a design trend you are excited about?
NM: After visiting the latest Saloni in Milan, I’m excited to continue to see the trend for recycled and reusable materials. Sundays is exploring some recycled fabrics, like our newly launched recycled Latte fabric, or our introduction of outdoor tables this summer in reused/reclaimed Teak wood – sourced from multiple sources such as old house shelters and ships. I look forward to continuing that exploration into our future products at Sundays.
AJ: What is your favorite place to find inspiration?
NM: My family has a home on a remote island near Vancouver called Hornby Island. Being there in nature whether it’s walking amongst old-growth trees, or creating rock sculptures on the sandstone, always brings inspiration to my work.

AJ: How do you incorporate client feedback into your designs?
NM: Client feedback truly informs our product roadmap. I feel all our designs have been made with some sort of feedback from our clients, as we developed many collections while we opened our first pop-up shop during the pandemic. It’s extremely important to continue that connection moving forward. We do this through gathering input from clients in our showrooms and events – every day, every one of our four showrooms provides an end of day summary to our leadership team of what they are hearing from customers. In addition, customer product reviews, post-purchase surveys, and our engaged social media community, has been a continued source of additional input. We developed the Get Together modular sofa collection in response to feedback for a higher sit and structured collection. Our latest Cozy Time sofa was based on feedback for a collection with less maintenance and more support.
