Multidisciplinary artist and designer Nina Fuga believes that beauty is synonymous with visual harmony and balance. And she has lived a life steeped in beauty – both the natural and the designed. Having called both Venice and London home, Fuga has been deeply influenced by the distinct architectural and cultural contrasts these cities offer. “Venice, with its ubiquitous beauty, has instilled in me a passion for sinuous lines and patterns,” she explains, while London’s “rich tapestry of history and modernity encouraged introspection. It taught me to seek beauty from within and appreciate the depth beneath apparent surfaces.”
The cities that have surrounded her, however, are just the beginning of her inspiration. Through her art, Fuga strives to convey a profound connection to nature, noting that, “ in today’s age, where platforms like social media and AI often overshadow our natural surroundings, there’s a risk of perceiving nature as something distant or artificial. I aim to bridge this gap by telling stories that evoke the age-old bond between humans and the natural world – a bond we cannot cancel or ignore.”

“I’D LOVE TO COLLABORATE WITH DIOR’S CREATIVE DIRECTOR, MARIA GRAZIA CHIURI, CREATING WHIMSICAL WORK FOR THEIR LARGE-SCALE RUNWAY SETS OR AN EXCLUSIVE DESIGN, BE IT FOR TEXTILE OR PACKAGING.”

While the detail in Fuga’s work is intricate and offers a sense of joy and exuberance, the deliberate use of space has its own effect. “I intentionally avoid overloading my compositions, allowing ample empty space to invite viewers into a more contemplative experience,” the artist shares. “This approach crafts a delicate balance between the familiar and the surreal, encouraging viewers to engage more deeply to fully understand the narrative, while also leaving room for interpretation and wonder.”

Fuga’s CV ranges from large-scale installations to objects that fit in the palm of a hand, and includes collaborations with bold-faced brands like Bulgari, Ferrari and Vogue UK. But for this creative mind, there will always be more beauty to explore. Having recently designed two bathrooms and kitchen tiles for a home in London, Fuga is contemplating the creation of more bespoke tiles and perhaps a tableware collection. “I am interested in interiors and would like to continue creating a bridge between my imagination and the real spaces with which people interact every day,” she explains. “Real people inhabiting my hand-painted worlds is something I look forward to pushing further.”
