Nuez Lounge BIO® has received the prestigious “Good Design Award Gold” in the category of best product design in recognition of its outstanding design and innovation. The Good Design Awards represents one of the highest distinctions for design and innovation in the country and reward projects in 12 design disciplines and 30 subcategories.
“It is a piece of excellent design, with a 100% sustainable profile and whose complex construction has been intelligently solved,” shared the jury of the Good Design Awards of the lounge chair created by Patricia Urquiola. “Nuez Lounge BIO® looks particularly enveloping and cozy, and it’s great to see a beautiful product made from biopolymers. The product has elegant lines and textures that invite interaction with the piece. In general, this is an outstanding example of a project that meets all the requirements of environmental care, ergonomics, resistance, quality and timelessness.”
Nuez Lounge BIO® is created from a thermopolymer of natural origin, not fossil, generated by living microorganisms, making it biodegradable and compostable. In addition, it is 100% recyclable and is designed so that the materials that comprise it can be easily separated: shell, foam, fabric, wood or aluminum base. Its carbon footprint is equivalent to wood, behaving like this quintessential natural and sustainable material.
As Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia, says: “Receiving a Good Design Australia award is a testament to embedding design excellence at the heart of a product, service, place or experience. Although 2021 is still another challenging year, it is incredibly inspiring to see designers and companies working together to find sustainable, innovative and customer-focused design solutions for local and global challenges and to see them recognized and rewarded for their efforts through these prestigious awards ”
