NYCxDESIGN is spreading a message of love and support for New York businesses with their recently announced An Ode to NYC Poster Campaign. This new initiative pays homage to the spirit of Milton Glaser’s “I LOVE NY” emblem and will start on October 7 across the boroughs, offering New Yorkers a heartfelt graphic tribute to their city during these challenging times. The team at NYCxDESIGN tapped local designers to create original pieces of artwork that represent their love for New York City. The bold collection of posters will be displayed in design showrooms, restaurants and retail stores and will be digitally projected in iconic NYC spots, including Fulton Center, the Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center, and on-board the NYC Ferry fleet. The posters will be available for sale on the Poster House’s website, with proceeds going to the Black Artists + Designers Guild (BADG).

This latest campaign follows the initial Ode to NYC initiative, which took place in June, and featured designers from around the world and their messages, notes and videos of hope, love, and longing for the city.

Valerie Hoffman, Program Director, NYCxDESIGN, remarks, “We were so moved by the outpouring of love, support, and hope that was generated through our initial An Ode to NYC activation that we knew we had to continue the program into the fall. Aligning with a non-profit is a critical component of the campaign. We are thrilled to support BADG in their ongoing mission to create an inclusive arts and design environment through equity and representation. It’s a wonderful opportunity to unite the community and support our local businesses with the power of design and love.”

Senior Vice President, NYCEDC, Alex Costas, adds, “An Ode to NYC is much more than just an expression of love for this city. It is also a showing of support for NYC’s creative industry, from the artists and designers, to the showrooms, stores, and cultural institutions that keep our city moving forward and make it the creative mecca that so many are drawn to.”

The historic collection of posters will feature creations from New York-based designers such as Alison Rose, Jack Travis, Kati Curtis, Kelly Marshall, Leyden Lewis Design Studio, Lori Weitzner, Marie Burgos, Sara Bengur with Veronique Gambier, Suzanne Tick, and the team at 2×4, with many of the creatives partnering with local organizations to support the mission, including Dr. Carol Bentel on behalf of ICFF, Harry Allen and Giona Maiarelli on behalf of Design Pavilion, Jon Santos on behalf of Independent Lodging Congress, Lora Appleton on behalf of Female Design Council, Manuel Miranda on behalf of AIANY/Center for Architecture, Rodolfo Agrella on behalf of WantedDesign and Vincent Lin on behalf of IDSA NYC Chapter.
