Spring is in full swing and summer is almost here. That means it’s time to enjoy everything the great outdoors has to offer. With inspiration from the Southeastern Showhouse 2019, we have gorgeous spaces to give you the outdoor furniture inspiration you’ve been looking for.
It’s important to remember to think of outdoor spaces as though they were indoor spaces. Just like inside your home, the best rooms are layered with comfortable furnishings, rugs, and tables. And also like the indoors, adding details like decor helps to elevate a space and make it feel more luxurious. So think of things like small lanterns, planters, large candles and vessels. But most of all make your outdoor space an extension of the inside of your home. Make it a personal and cozy natural retreat.

Down in the South, there is nothing better in the summertime than outdoor dinner parties with friends and family. This dining set by Erin Gates Design with Frontgate is anchored by a rug and two fabric side chairs bringing coastal living to any home no matter how inland you may be. This dining rooms mix of woods, white surfaces/fabrics and vessels along with the perfectly chosen plants and flowers amplifies its opulence and creates an ideal outdoor dining room.
Love having your friends over for drinks and laughter? Classic wicker chaise seating, like these, create a home-like lounge for casual outdoor living to any size space. Aggrandize your lounge with a small concrete side table for direct access to your favorite spring and summer beverages. And add details such as soft throw blankets for those cool nights and log pillows for added comfort.
This outdoor keeping room designed by Tish Mills Kirk is a great mix of styles from modern, to midcentury modern and even bohemian. Don’t be afraid to create a layered look in your outdoor spaces. By fusing styles, materials and colors you enrich a space and create more interest. Dividing a space with sheer curtains makes the space more livable and allows your guests to stay cooler and more bug-free.
If your style is more formal, you can bring that outdoors. With a timeless white sofa, coffee table and console table, this outdoor living room is a great place to read a book and hide away from it all with nature as your backdrop. “Our inspiration is a place for the homeowners to have coffee or a cold martini before they get dressed,” says Meg Harrington. She and Ann Huff, of Huff Harrington Home, wanted the space to feel like an indoor room.
