Concept:
“My inspiration is the bucolic scenes of New Jersey; Bernardsville, Far Hills, Oldwick, and equestrian ties as depicted in local imagery.
The Guest Bedroom and Bath are my interpretation of the serenity and tradition imbued by these views, in a contemporary way, using color, pattern, texture, and artwork.”
Final Design:

Integral to Platt’s design is the artwork, all of which is sourced from local New Jersey artists. Most notably, hanging above the bed and throughout the bathroom are spore drawings from artist Jim Toia, composed from leaving mushrooms on paper for several weeks.
“They’re very ethereal and strong,” says Platt, lending to the dark and contemporary elements of the bathroom, and adding contrast to the lighter, more traditional bedroom.
