As the leader of Douglas Elliman’s #1 sales team since 2020, Jennifer Leahy’s market area includes many of Connecticut and New York’s most upscale towns. Jennifer started in the real estate industry in 2002 and quickly made a name for herself as a key player in the mortgage industry by closing almost half a billion dollars in loans. Her results-driven approach has led to nearly $1 billion in sales at Elliman and a notable ranking as a top team in the nation. While she is passionate about real estate, she also focuses on serving her community – from teaching a meditation class to fellow agents, to brokering a deal that preserved a private island for public use.

Gwen Donovan: What level of service do you and your team provide to your clients?
Jennifer Leahy: We serve our clients at the highest level and attempt to always go beyond what would typically be expected. Needs are very specific to each client, and it is never one-size-fits-all. Of course we recommend service providers, but also sometimes dog groomers, divorce attorneys, Chinese tutors…if anything involves running a home, we have helped with it!

GD: What was the most memorable property you ever sold?
JL: The most memorable property I ever sold was Great Island to the town of Darien for$85 million. Great Island is a private 60-acre island accessible via a causeway with over a mile of pristine shoreline and breathtaking views of the Long Island Sound. The beloved home to the same family for generations, it is the largest private island on the East Coast. It is also home to the world-class equestrian facility designed by renowned architect Rafael Guastavino. Although it required much more effort than a traditional transaction, children for generations to come will be able to enjoy the canopy of the mature trees, explore marine life along the Long Island Sound, play infields, and even take a riding lesson, all within the town of Darien!

GD: Your mindful approach to living (including meditation) seems like an important aspect of your life; how has it helped you thrive personally and professionally?
JL: I meditate twice a day for at least 20 minutes, which bookends my active hours. I also teach a bi-monthly meditation class to other Elliman agents in the hope that I help as many agents as possible access the peace and abundant energy that lives in all of us.

GD: What is the best part of your job?
JL: The best part of my job is helping people fulfill their real estate dreams.
