Concept:
“When I learned we were creating spaces in a luxury living community originally designed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh, I knew I wanted to be involved. The talented American architect well-known for his famous spaces including the Dakota and The Plaza Hotel, produces work that is thoughtful, high-end and exudes sophistication. I incorporated these characteristics into this Master Suite through my own lens, soulful minimalism, creating a space that embodies current day livable luxury.”
Final Design:
The Master Suite in Residence 801 posed a unique challenge in that it didn’t offer much natural light. Rather than be intimidated, Ramchandani embraced the dark and moody tones.
“To keep it light and bright would have defeated the purpose,” Ramchandani explains. “So we did a navy wallpaper with a little bit of bronze in the pattern to give it some shimmer. And used navy’s and gray’s throughout the space. We went all in.”
The Reader’s Retreat is designed to be a modern-day reprieve from the stressors of daily life. The stage is set with built-in shelving spanning one entire wall, comfortable chairs from Home Interiors By Anthony Giaramita, and a small bar tucked in the corner because, as Ramchandani explains, “Every reader needs a drink while they’re reading.”
