When RangeCraft says custom, they mean it. Their unique, often one-of-a-kind, range hoods run the gamut of styles, whether their clients seek an industrial or artistic aesthetic. This New Jersey-based firm has been a leader in designer kitchen fittings for 50 years, distinguishing themselves with luxe details like Swarovski crystals, quilted metals and unusual accents. Operations Manager and Owner David Podwyszynski shares RangeCraft’s impressive history, proud achievements and future plans.
Gwen Donovan: As you celebrate your 50th anniversary, what has contributed to RangeCraft’s long-term success?
David Podwyszynski: Our customization ability and our craftsmanship speak for themselves. We can make anything as custom as you can imagine. We are well known for our custom range hoods, but we also make tables, cabinets, counters, sinks and decorative architectural furniture. I’m very proud that our products are all American-made from start to finish on-site, no part of the job is outsourced to anyone else.

GD: How has your business evolved over the decades?
DP: We always like to bring something to the industry that’s a first. We are the only company in the country to carry blue mirrored stainless steel. We are the only company licensed in the world to use Swarovski crystals in our installations. We aren’t set in our ways; we try to always innovate and think outside of the box. We are a custom sheet metal shop, so the category of products we can custom fabricate is endless. We are testing the boundaries in the kitchen, especially in the sheet metal world.
GD: Are there any specific projects that come to mind that showcase RangeCraft’s creativity?
DP: We fabricated an incredibly detailed range hood for a customer in Brooklyn and they loved it so much that we were invited to their home recently to discuss other pieces they wanted us to make for their kitchen. The hood had curving petals, a mirrored and brushed finish, curved framing, standing seams capped in the mirrors and ribbed glass at the bottom. The design was subtle and so complex. This project showed that you can’t stump us. Send us what you think no one can do and we’ll take it on. That’s another reason we have existed as long as we have.

GD: What is something you are particularly proud of when it comes to your business?
DP: Because we’re a family-run business, our approach is more than just transactional. We don’t have a big corporate structure and we treat our workers and customers like family.
