This Spring at ICFF 2019, branding consultant-turned-artist Sarah Von Dreele will launch her transformative collection of hand-painted wallpapers. For the past two decades, the New York-based maker and visionary has developed and served as the principal of Onethread, a creative branding studio that has bolstered the reputations and aesthetics of commercial, cultural, and corporate clients. In touch with her sense of color, shape, style, and composition, Von Dreele began to change course and put paint to paper, which turned into a new vibrant extension of her personal brand.
Von Dreele started out on this journey by painting abstract geometric designs as a form of creative release. Soon after showing the brightly colored works to a friend, she realized that her branding and business capabilities did not have to be not solely reserved for others. In 2018, Von Dreele established herself in the design sector as an exciting new name for decorators and homemakers with the inception of her eponymous brand. Soon after her decision to branch into the art scene, her tireless work ethic and creative generation were recognized by London-based fine art publisher Rosenstiels. Through this globally influential company, her modern, inspiring prints have found homes in locales around the world.
Von Dreele’s upcoming room-redefining collection of nine distinctive patterns features florals, abstract patterns, and minimalistic geometric forms. The much-anticipated line will be offered in 3 unique colorways each, and available on non-woven, grasscloth, and metallic substrates, available to the trade beginning May 19. In addition to her wallpapers, Von Dreele will release her Studio Collection, a vast range of original paintings using the signature dreamlike style that brings her wallpapers to life. The colors and cadence of her designs have a transformative power; the paintings themselves are the result of the regenerative power of creativity.
With her debut collection, Von Dreele has produced one of ICFF’s freshest launches of the season with a strong feminist approach to style and empowerment. With years of branding experience and a newfound talent for painting, Von Dreele’s artistry is a cross-disciplinary approach that is impossible to ignore.
