Marking its first summer edition at its now permanent home at the historic Starrett-Lehigh Building on Manhattan’s West Side, this summer’s edition of Shoppe Object kept its creative ball moving forward with new programming, new global pavilions, new connected events and aisles upon aisles of design.
The show welcomed more than 850 hand-selected brands from around the world; attendees from 47 U.S. states, 33 countries and six continents; international pavilions from Chile, Ghana, Indonesia, Morocco, Ukraine, South Africa, Japan and more; and returning favorite curations including the Global Artisan Project, Black Lives Matter Action Initiative and American Design Club Incubation Space. Add to that a new Shoppe Talks series of panel discussions, a special exhibition by this summer’s “Artist of the Season” Joshua Huyser and a new fundraising event to benefit World Central Kitchen — Cocktails for a Cause with Marcus Samuelsson — and the 3-day event proved it has put community and creativity front and center.
“This is what we work for,” says Jesse James, founder and president of Shoppe Object, “fostering community, relationships, and opportunities for thoughtful engagement in everything we do, at the show and beyond.”
