SieMatic is regarded as the inventor of the handle-free kitchen. It is therefore only natural that in its 90th anniversary year the Westphalian kitchen manufacturer should also focus on the new interpretation of the handle-free kitchen. The new SieMatic SLX kitchen concept has been welcomed with enormous enthusiasm by dealers and customers around the world. The well-known premium kitchen manufacturer is therefore especially pleased that SieMatic SLX has been able to convince the international expert juries of three prestigious design awards. The new handle-free kitchen concept for the PURE style collection was honored with three prominent awards – the Iconic Award 2020: Innovative Interior “Best of Best”, the iF Design Award 2020, and the Red Dot Design Award 2020.
Organized by the German Design Council, the ICONIC AWARDS competition addresses is aimed at all companies in the furnishing industry and their partners in interior design. According to its own statement, its aim is to “discover and award the best from all areas of interior design”. The jury of prominent experts offered the following reasons for its decision: “The SieMatic SLX PURE impresses with clear lines and great proportions Cleverly integrated light lets the worktop float in the air, further enhancing the impression of elegance and high quality. Worth mentioning here are also the recessed grips which, as a design element, additionally underline the extraordinary design standards.”
The iF DESIGN AWARD is the “oldest independent design seal in the world” that has been presented examples of particularly innovative design for the past 67 years. It is a symbol of outstanding design achievement that focuses on the innovative power of design. This year, 78 international design experts from more than 20 nations judged over 7,000 entries from 56 countries. SieMatic SLX convinced the jury here, too. The winners will be honored and celebrated in the course of the iF design award night on May 4 at the Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin.
The RED DOT AWARD: Product Design identifies the best products of the year and has offered designers and manufacturers an international platform for the evaluation of good design for over 60 years. True to the motto “In search of good design and innovation”, the Red Dot jury evaluates around 6,500 products entered every year and arrives at a joint decision on the products that will earn the Red Dot Award for best quality of design. SieMatic SLX was selected as the winner of the 2020 Red Dot Award for Product Design. The award ceremony will be held in Essen at the UNESCO world heritage site Zeche Zollverein on June 22, 2020.
More living space than a kitchen
The awards and the jurors’ reasons perfectly match the core of the SLX PURE, which exemplifies the fusion of kitchen and living room. Because it is as functional as it is aesthetic, where both kitchen and product design intermingle. The entire SieMatic kitchen expertise is unveiled in the elegant surfaces, filigree proportions and transparent surfaces: from the only 6.5 millimeter thin elements to the intelligent interior and the completely redesigned horizontal and vertical recessed grips with discreetly integrated and individually controllable batten luminaires. The matching glass showcases lend additional lightness – with seemingly floating pull-outs and transparent doors and sides.
This new kitchen concept is part of the SieMatic PURE style collection, which is characterized by its minimalist and clear design. In total, SieMatic offers three style worlds that blend in individually with the customer’s living environment. The URBAN style collection enables particularly flexible, intuitive planning with solitary furniture – such as the award-winning SieMatic 29, the reinterpretation of the classic kitchen buffet. Characteristic of the CLASSIC style collection is the skillful combination of tradition and modernism, which is visible in the creative mix of materials with elements of metal and glass.
Recognized design innovation
The Iconic Award 2020: Innovative Interior, the iF Design Award 2020, and the Red Dot Design Award 2020 are the first awards for SieMatic SLX PURE. The awards seamlessly align with a longer list of design prizes for SieMatic. Such as the German Design Award 2016 in Gold for the SieMatic 29 and the German Design Award 2019 Winner for the SieMatic PURE Collection. The entire SieMatic brand identity is also nominated for the German Brand Award 2020, which the kitchen manufacturer previously won in gold in 2016.
In the course of Eurocucina 2020, being held on the occasion of the international furniture fair from June 16 to June 21, 2020, visitors to Milan’s SieMatic Monte Santo flagship store will also be able to view the SieMatic SLX PURE – with new colored accents and special material and planning configurations.
