Taste Talks Festival & Tasty Awards Return to Brooklyn Sept. 8-10

Northside Media announces the return of Taste Talks Brooklyn, the innovative food festival and awards show, for its fifth year on September 8-10, 2017. Nominees for the second annual Tasty Awards, a national culinary awards program for the new generation of food and drink lovers, are officially made public today.

Alongside Wylie Dufresne, the featured curator of the three-day conference, additional participants include: Floyd Cardoz of Paowalla, Ariane Daguin of D’Artagnan, Dana Cowin of Heritage Radio’s Speaking Broadly, Jeremiah Stone & Fabián von Hauske of Contra + Wildair, Greg Baxtrom of Olmsted, Jamie Young of Sunday in Brooklyn, and more. Douglas Elliman is a major sponsor of the event.

The Tasty Awards will kick off the three-day festival on Friday, September 8th at historic restored landmark The Weylin in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and will be hosted by Matty Matheson of VICELAND’s Dead Set on Life. Andrew Carmellini and others will participate in talks during the awards, which will be followed by the festival’s DJ’d opening night celebration. Nominees for each category across the three verticals – Restaurants and Chefs, Media, and Innovation.

Award nominees have been submitted by the public and then voted upon by an Academy comprising top tier chefs, food writers and cultural figures. The voting Academy features top names in food and culture, including QuestLove; April Bloomfield (The Spotted Pig); Amanda Hesser (Food 52); Heems (Musician); Dominique Ansel (Dominique Ansel Bakery); Ken Oringer (Uni, Toro); Amanda Cohen (Dirt Candy); Michael White (Altamarea Group); Flynn McGarry (Eureka); Roble Ali (Chef); Sharon Van Etten (Singer); JJ Goode (Cookbook author); and more!

Taste Talks is a national series of festivals bringing together thought leaders and culinary luminaries with everyday food enthusiasts to celebrate the future of food and culture. Produced by Brooklyn’s Northside Media, each Taste Talks weekend includes a daylong symposium, exclusive meals, parties with top chefs, and the signature All-Star Cookout, where the biggest names in food and pop-culture team up for a festive cookout with live music. This year Taste Talks is excited to return to Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, and will be in Miami for the first time ever.
