File These Offices Under “2026 Design Inspiration”

Last years’ issues of aspire design and home magazine saw a multitude of original office designs — take a look at some of our favorites below.

WASHINGTON D.C.
Design: Christopher Boutlier Interiors
Photography: Jennifer Hughes
In a 1910 home in the historic Cleveland Park neighborhood in Washington D.C., a serene study blends sculptural midcentury silhouettes, rich green upholstery and graphic black accents to create a modern yet timeless workspace.

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON
Design: Dan and Sandra Wilson
Architecture: Wilson-Haus
Photography: Kevin Scott
Tucked away in the primary bedroom suite of this Seattle penthouse, an Eames aluminum Group Management chair in white leather is paired with an IKEA desk.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Design and architecture: Elizabeth Steimberg
Photography: Max Kim-Bee
For this library, Elizabeth Steimberg needed functional beauty, as the homeowner wanted to also use it as a craft room. The architect turned to moldings and casings, then designed built-ins that conceal creative materials in what feels like a refined atelier.

BEACON HILL, BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Design: Nicole Hirsch
Architect: Embarc Design
Photography: Jared Kuzia
Stylist: Sean William
Striking a balance between vibrant and calm, this color-drenched office layers texture and tone with a warm confidence. Tailored Rosemary Hallgarten draperies by Makkas frame the romantic morning light, softening the moody walls, while a curved Art Applications desk and custom Rug Company floor covering create a study in contrasts. And finally, a sheepskin Flemming Lassen chair and ottoman offer the ultimate perch for a reflective pause.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Design: Elizabeth Bolognino Interiors
Photography: Adam Kane Macchia
Maya Romanoff wallpaper is the backdrop for a Ralph Lauren desk and rare Heriz carpet. A Knoll Brno chair in zebra print adds a bold, modern touch. The 1940s fashion drawing by the owner’s mother and a vintage travel poster honor heritage and a sense of place.

MILAN, ITALY
Architecture: De Amicis Architetti
Photography: Helenio Barbetta
Stylist: Laura Mauceri
Key features that contribute to this home’s thereness are the handsome, wood-framed, floor-to-ceiling windows, a slightly curved wall in the sunlit transition space between the living room and bedroom, the newly installed iroko wood parquet laid in a custom-designed herringbone pattern and substantial vertical and horizontal concrete elements.

SÖRMLAND, SWEDEN
Design: Gunnel Sahlin
Photography” Johan Sellén
Stylist: Gill Renlund
A regular auction-goer and flea-market shopper, Gunnel Sahlin has furnished her home with a range of pieces: a rocking chair built by her cabinetmaker’s great-grandmother, unpretentious bentwood chairs, sturdy-legged tables and a Great Ash sofa by Eilersen. Far from maximalist but by no means minimalist, the simply arranged interiors are punctuated with all sorts of objects.

MALIBU, CALIFORNIA
Design: Vanessa Alexander
Photography: Rich Stapleton
Stylist: Lisa Rowe
A vintage French desk from Morentz and 1970s chair by Fabricius & Kastholm for Kill International center this office. Behind these is a work by Andrey Samarin. On the desk is a Swedish 1940s lamp.

ASPEN, COLORADO
Design: Clive Lonstein
Photography: William Jess Laird
Stylist: Martin Bourne
“The office stands out as my favorite space,” says Clive Lonstein of this rustic Colorado cabin. “It features sophisticated furniture that harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding context, creating an inviting yet refined atmosphere.”

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
Design: Harold Skulte
Architecture: Eric Rothfeder
Photography: Mike Schwartz
This home office, with custom millwork by Eric Rothfeder, is equipped with seating designs by Hans Wegner, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.

LITCHFIELD COUNTY, CONNECTICUT
Design: Charlene Miranda
Photography: Matthew Williams
Stylist: Molly Fitzgerald
Charlene Miranda brought a vibrant spirit to this home office, tapping Sacco to create the office’s custom rug, which is largely inspired by a fabric swatch she showed her clients. For balance, she offset the unmissable underfoot with butter-yellow wallpaper, a Līmen Studio credenza and a desk from RH paired with a chair sourced from Design Within Reach.

BROOKLINE, MASSACHUSETTS
Design: Sashya Thind
Photography: Jared Kuzia
An Eames lounge chair from RESIDE, Charlotte Perriand table from Design Within Reach and BoConcept shelving bring midcentury vibes to this office, where the owner retires to work or simply enjoy The New York Times on a weekend morning.

RED ROCK CANYON, LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
Design and Architecture: Jeff Anderson, Avalon Architectural Inc.
Builder: Merlin Custom Home Builders
Art Consultant: Jody Knowlton, Artsource Consulting
Photography: Manolo Langis
This home office is clad in rift-sawn white oak with antique brass bands and set with acorn oak and caramel brindle cowhide Rincon chairs. The Rabitti 1969 yuga wenge wood coffee table is from Artemest, and a burnished brass dulcet medium pharmacy floor lamp is by Visual Comfort.

MINNESOTA
Design: Benigno Aguilar
Architecture: Pka Architecture
Photography: Canary Grey
The interior palette of this home is a blend of materials that tell their own stories. White oak, bronze, limestone and blackened steel all make appearances, chosen not only for their inherent beauty but also for their ability to harmonize with the clients’ eclectic art collection.

BETHESDA, MARYLAND
Design: Sara Swabb, Storie Collective
Photography: Stacy Zarin
Lighting takes a leading role in this office, where a Raku SH8 portable table lamp from Finnish Design Shop, a Jamie Young Barley Twist black floor lamp and a sconce found on Etsy shine a flattering light on the enveloping Fox Red-hued walls, a vibrant choice from Farrow & Ball’s Archive Collection. A vintage Baumann office chair is offset by the more modern Pouf Round by Ferm Living.
