Nashville- and Chicago-based designer Amhad Freeman has collaborated with Scott Group Studio to create Serene Waters, a rug collection inspired by the fluid, ever-changing beauty of water. The creative vision of these flowing designs blends the brand’s signature artistry and craftsmanship with Freeman’s timeless designs, all realized by skilled artisans. The collection conveys a serene sophistication that is evocative of the natural flow of water and earth, and will elevate any space with eye-pleasing textures and colors taken directly from nature.
The collection includes three styles: Alti, Alda, and Valon. Each style is handcrafted with Scott Group Studio’s commitment to excellence with the finest materials and using innovative techniques that honor the brand’s legacy while embracing design for the future. Each piece that they produce is a work of art.
Alti is a hand-tufted design made of wool, silk, worsted wool, and lurex, and is inspired by the meeting of water and land on the shoreline. The design reflects the interplay of black sand beaches and foaming waves. A dark, grounding cut pile echoes the earth, while flowing lines capture the movement of water with cut pile silk.
Alda is made from wool and silk. The design evokes the power and beauty of wave patterns and features bold curves and lines in three-dimensional form. The dramatic rise and fall of waves are represented by variations in pile height and combinations of moody colors.
Valon is also made from silk and wool. The style is rendered in soft sandy hues and draws its inspiration from the shallows along the shore where the surf meets the sand. The design incorporates an organic line of cream cut pile, accented with silk for a luminous finish.
