Andrew Joseph: What’s your favorite cocktail?
Lauren Lerner: Anything craft with fresh juices and herbs. My latest fave spot is happy hour at Etta in Scottsdale because of their large selection of delicious options. I also love hanging at home as well and have recently completed a bar setup, so I’ve included the Bartesian Premium Cocktail Machine on my holiday list this year. Loving the quick cocktail option when entertaining a group, but I’ll be sure to add the fresh herbs in so it still feels special.

AJ: What are your ideal weekend plans?
LL: My perfect weekend plans would include a hike, brunch, a day at the spa, and then a nice dinner out. Oh, and I’d love a nap included in the mix if possible. To get even more specific, these are my ideal go-to’s: hiking Brown’s Mt in Scottsdale, followed by brunch at Local Bistro, followed by a spa day at the Four Seasons, and then dinner at Etta.

AJ: What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
LL: I majored in business and only decided to make my side passion for design a reality when on maternity leave with my son. Perhaps postpartum mood swings influenced this decision, but I’m so glad they did! I have built a successful multi-million dollar business and have no formal design training. Honestly, my unique approach (and not being formally trained) has been a key component of my success. I am not focused on “rules and theories” and instead lead with my heart and creative abilities.

AJ: What are you most proud of?
LL: Overcoming a traumatic brain injury when I was 12 and learning that anytime someone told me I wouldn’t be able to do something (like go to college) made me work even harder to make it happen.

AJ: Where is the first place you want to travel now that everything is opening up?
LL: Bali! I am actually headed to Mandapa Resort in March to celebrate my 40th with some friends. Literally counting down the days!
