Andrew Joseph: You’re the newest Crayola color. What color are you and why?
Paola Zamudio: Mauve pink, it’s light, calming, and I consider pink the new neutral.

AJ: Describe your design style as if you were explaining it to someone who cannot see.
PZ: My design style is called Retrofuturism: I pay homage to the past and take it to the future, I love mixing vintage with modern and color, lots of color!

AJ: What is the last book you read?
PZ: The Story of Bauhaus. I’m very inspired by the Bauhaus art movement which I implement in my design directions: geometry, color, contrast.

AJ: What is something you hope to see trending in design in the future?
PZ: I love spaces that feel cozy and lived in, I’m tired of the perfect-looking places. I like cozy!

AJ: If you had a superpower, what would it be?
PZ: Traveling through time, it would be great to see other eras and styles but be able to come back to today, kind of like in that movie Midnight in Paris.

AJ: What’s inspiring you in life (in the industry) right now?
PZ: The intersection of different mediums, from design, music, space, art; that’s what I do, not just design, I create the stage for people to have experiences.
