Every 2022 Color Of The Year So Far

Each year we see paint companies reflect on the past and predict what’s to come with Color of the Year choices that speak not just to design trends, but to the climate of the world around us. From creamy greens (and bright greens, and subtle greens) to breezy blues, so far the consensus among many brands is that what we’re looking for in 2022 are soothing spaces and restful tones.

Take a look at all of the announced 2022 Colors of the Year so far, and keep an eye on this space as we update the list.

Benjamin Moore | October Mist

“As the spaces in our homes continue to evolve, we uncover more opportunities to express our individuality and leverage the power of color to design environments that serve different functions and styles,” said Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore Director of Color Marketing & Development. “October Mist 1495 and the corresponding Color Trends 2022 palette reflects an effortless harmony of colors, while inspiring unique combinations for any paint project.”

Sherwin-Williams | Evergreen Fog

After years of cool neutrals and bold jewel tones, Sherwin-Williams went with a color their calling a nostalgic mid-tone. “Evergreen Fog is a sophisticated wash of color for spaces that crave a subtle yet stunning statement shade,” said Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “Evergreen Fog inspires us to begin again and is a great choice for modern interiors and exteriors.”

HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams | Aleutian

In addition to the washed indigo of Aleutian, HGTV Home also announced the Softened Refuge Color Collection. The 10 shade palette is composed of, “soft and simple tones inspired by peacefulness with a focus on balanced and meaningful colors that help facilitate tranquility.”

Valspar | 12 natural shades

Valspar announced a full palette of nature-inspired shades including Blanched Thyme, Rustic Oak, Subtle Peach, and Mountain River. The company said this year’s colors have been selected, “To bring a sense of soothing tranquility to the walls, ultimately blending the safety of the home with the calmness a beautiful shade of paint can bring.”

Glidden | Guacamole

Several brands have so far recognized green as the incoming “it” color in the new year, but Glidden’s pick may be slighty tastier than others. “This spirited yet soothing green brings an organic energy to any space,” the company shared. “Our Glidden gurus recommend using the color Guacamole in your home with reckless abandon – just like ordering extra chips and guac at your favorite burrito joint.”

Behr | Breezeway

Described as “approachable but noticeable,” Breezeway from Behr is a silvery blue-green shade. “A new year brings the opportunity to embrace a sense of renewal and pursue untapped passions,” says Erika Woelfel, vice president of color and creative services at Behr Paint Company. “Whether it’s lacing up our hiking boots, or breaking out the gardening tools, Breezeway inspires us to fully embrace the hobbies or adventures, both near and far, that excite us. We look forward to a color that welcomes a hopeful sense of renewal, restoration and healing.”

PPG | Olive Sprig

Similarly drawing on inspiration from our natural surroundings, Olive Sprig from PPG is a relaxed grey-green that “emulates the feeling of soothing aloe vera or a fragrant plant – brightening any space with organic liveliness.” Amy Donato, senior color marketing manager, PPG paint says, “DIYers, property managers, designers and architects are shifting away from the stark, neutral palettes of yesterday and opting for color in all forms. Call it rebellion, but we are certainly here for the resurgence of optimistic colors to guide us into a new era of home design.”
