Inside Kasthall’s New Flagship Store In SoHo

An industry staple since 1889, Swedish brand Kasthall is expanding access to its woven and hand-tufted rugs across the United States with a new brick-and-mortar location. This winter, the brand opened its first flagship store in New York City, situated in the SoHo neighborhood.

This expansion is a milestone in Kasthall’s 135-year history and a testament to its commitment to providing its clientele with elegant designs and superior craftsmanship in the US and globally. Kasthall opened its first flagship store in Stockholm in 2012, and this latest addition marks the fourth Kasthall Flagship Store & Showroom, expanding its already established presence in Stockholm, Malmö, and Milan.

“Opening the Kasthall flagship in Soho marks a significant step for our organization in North America,” said David McNamara, Sales Director North America. “Our focus is now on building stronger connections with customers and understanding their needs, mirroring what we’ve successfully done in our global locations – Stockholm, Malmö, Milan, Gothenburg, and Tokyo. Equally exciting is that the space will also serve as a hub for interaction with our long-standing residential A+D, Contract clientele, and our dealer partners, showcasing the full spectrum of possibilities when collaborating with Kasthall.”

In conjunction with the opening, Kasthall will breathe new life into the Feather Collection, a hand-tufted rug in pure wool and linen bouclé designed by Ellinor Eliasson, by introducing five new, lively colorways: Blue Jay, Hoopoe, Parakeet, Nuthatch, and Sparrow. Inspired by the rich color palette found in nature and the diversity of birds worldwide, Feather adds a playful and contemporary touch to any interior setting.

Lena Jiseborn, Head of Design at Kasthall, points out, “Our new additions expand the color range of our collection, offering a vibrant and versatile palette. From calm, neutral shades to surprising pops of color, Feather radiates sophistication and a hint of fun. The ‘feather boa’ framing the rug makes it an ideal centerpiece in any interior design scheme.”

Located at 29 Howard Street, New York, the Kasthall Flagship Store in New York invites design enthusiasts, the A&D community, and those who appreciate high-quality craftsmanship to explore Kasthall’s rug collection and witness the exceptional quality firsthand.
