Swedish rugmaker Kasthall is strengthening its presence in the United States with the opening of a new showroom at the New York Design Center. Designed as a destination for material exploration, specification and creative exchange, the new space brings Kasthall’s distinctive approach to woven and tufted rugs closer to the architects, designers, clients and partners shaping interiors across the country.

Founded in Sweden and rooted in more than a century of textile craftsmanship, Kasthall brings together design, material knowledge and skilled making at its own mill in Kinna, Sweden. The new NYC showroom creates a dedicated platform where that expertise can be experienced firsthand, while providing a local resource for project development, client meetings and specification.
“The opening of our New York showroom marks an important step for Kasthall in the US,” says Mirkku Kullberg, CEO of Kasthall. “New York is an important market for Kasthall, and 200 Lexington gives us a strong platform from which to grow our business in the US. Being closer to architects, designers, partners and clients allows us to support projects locally and build stronger relationships.”

The showroom’s interior builds on the spatial identity originally developed by Swedish design agency FYRA for Kasthall’s flagship store in Stockholm, translating the concept for its New York setting. Furniture from Finnish design brand Vaarnii complements the space, creating an environment where Nordic materiality and craftsmanship meet the energy of New York’s design community.
The opening arrives at an exciting moment of continued growth and creative development for Kasthall. The brand recently introduced Atlas and Bonbon, designed by Barber Osgerby, and is preparing to expand Landskab, the collection designed by Cecilie Manz. Coinciding with the showroom opening, Kasthall will also offer a first preview of new colorways for Goose Eye Icon, a contemporary interpretation of the classic Nordic goose eye pattern, alongside the expansion of Landskab.
Together, the collections demonstrate Kasthall’s ongoing exploration of how traditional techniques, distinctive materials and contemporary design can come together to create rugs with lasting character.

The New York opening also marks another step in Kasthall’s broader evolution toward a more connected customer experience. In April, the company launched the first phase of its new kasthall.com, with continued development underway to strengthen the connection between its physical and digital channels and better support both private clients and professional partners.
With its new New York home, Kasthall brings the culture of its Swedish mill into direct conversation with one of the world’s most influential design communities — creating a space where materials can be explored, ideas can take shape and projects can begin.
