Neolith Surfaces Shine At Best In Edmonton Home Luxury Event

Interior designer Lauren Kyle joined forces with Neolith North America to create a $3.8 million dollar home to host their co-produced event, The Best in Edmonton Home Luxury. Kyle opted to feature the gorgeous Neolith surfaces Strata Argentum, Mont Blanc and Zaha Stone throughout the home, including the kitchen, bathrooms and living areas to reflect all elements of luxury from the moment you step in the door. Here, we chat with Kyle about her inspiration while designing the home and why Neolith is her new go-to when it comes to luxury countertops and stonework for an elevated, richly designed home.

aspire design and home: Tell us a little bit about the project.
Lauren Kyle: The event was to showcase luxury homes and designs in Edmonton. We invited industry professionals, including real estate agents, architects, designers and luxury home builders. We invited potential buyers to this event as well. It was hosted as a collaboration between Keri-Lyn and Jason Holland, Kyle and Co-Design Studio, Neolith and Alair Homes.

adh: What was your inspiration for the home? What sensibility did you want to evoke?
LK: My goal was to have something that could be used in a contemporary and traditional space whilst upholding its quality long-term for the buyers of this home. We wanted something soft and textured which would complement the architecture of the home. The river wash texture definitely brought a contemporary element into a modern space, which allowed me to achieve my design intent.

adh: How did you select Neolith as a partner to bring this home to life?
LK: I chose Neolith for this project because it was the best quality on the market, and it worked great with the design palette I wanted to achieve.

adh: You selected a beautiful white and slate marbled backsplash and countertop for the kitchen. Did any aspect of this stone installation surprise you?
LK: I was most impressed with how durable the product was. I have never seen a porcelain on the market that mimics a natural stone so well. The veining reminds me of true stone, but it is much more durable. Neolith was extremely helpful in training our fabricator on how to use this stone. Sintered stone requires a special technique and the install went seamlessly. The fabricator was able to contact Neolith, and they responded promptly and helped to ensure the process went smoothly.

adh: How do you incorporate “green” qualities to a space you’re designing?
LK: If you are looking for a carbon-neutral product, [Neolith’s sintered stone] is something great for those who value the environment.

adh: The basement is extraordinary, would you walk us through the space?
LK: Neolith’s Zaha stone was used in the basement bar and bathroom. This stone went great with the floors I had selected and created a moody lounge environment that is great for an entertainment space.

adh: You repeated stone patterns throughout the home, which inspires a serenity of sorts. How did you land on that design element?
LK: I used the Strata Argentum for the countertops in the kitchen and the Primary Ensuite. We were trying to create a contemporary but traditional look, and this stone helped us to achieve this. I liked that the Strata looked like a modern version of travertine. The main reason we chose this stone was that we loved the unique texture, making the space feel more natural and organic. We also used this in the laundry room. We liked the Mont Blanc as it added a balance that brought a crisp clean freshness to the design.
