Miller House founder, Jennifer Miller instinctively understood design’s influence on our lives at a tender age. She holds vivid memories of standing painting at an easel as well as rearranging her bedroom furniture to create a more pleasing layout. This early-found passion moved her to seek degrees in art history, painting and interior design. Her education, along with extensive world travel and a deep appreciation for the natural world, continue to inspire her aesthetic. As an artist and designer she strongly believes in the eclectic blending of the old and new to bring serene, soulful designs to life. Incorporating form and foliage, Succulents is both elegant and eye-catching. Inspired by the succulent gardens found throughout Los Angeles, this hand-painted, watercolor design pulls the natural beauty of the outdoors in.
Andrew Joseph: If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
Jennifer Miller: I would definitely be a hawk or a jaguar. I am drawn to animals that have a heightened sense of awareness and observation. They all also act quickly when they have a target in view.
AJ: What are three words to describe where you live?
JM: Calming, Tranquil, Creative.
AJ: What are your beauty secrets?
JM: I drink tons of water. I also try to use products with clean, natural ingredients. One of my go-tos right now is Desert Rose Oil by Nurse Jamie.

AJ: What’s inspiring you in life (in the industry) right now?
JM: I’m really loving all of the artisans that are coming forward. It’s inspiring to see that some newer brands attain a level of attention to detail and craftsmanship in their products. There also seems to be products coming out that have a fresh look and perspective. I try to incorporate products from these small businesses as much as I can on my interior projects.
AJ: A book that everyone should read?
JM: I just finished The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Ruben and recommend it to anyone and everyone! My copy is dogeared and underlined, and I can’t wait to go back through and re-read it again.
I love it because it’s filled with wisdom that honors the creative process and seems to understand the mind of an artist/creator. The writing is introspective, validating and confirming for anyone who creates – which is everyone.
The delicate, calming pattern titled Olives evokes the feelings most often attributed to Jennifer’s designs—harmony and serenity.
AJ: What would you like to be remembered for?
JM: I would like to be remembered as someone who has aided in raising the vibration of a space and/or the people that I’ve encountered. Whether through design and art, kindness, a conversation, or even disruption, I want to take part in shifting or elevating the energy in a space. And, with my friends, family or clients, I strive to help them deepen their connection to themselves and their own experience in this world.
