When conjuring up vision boards and creative decor ideas for her clients, designer Laurel Harrington often found herself at a loss to find furniture that fit both form and function — and also, joy.

“There are so many beautiful furniture collections, but they often feel a bit serious,” she says. “Why can’t high-end furniture be fun?”

Enter her debut furniture collection, honeydudley, a vibrant — and certainly joyful — take on custom modern furniture. The line’s signature offering is the Daisy Doo Chair, a custom-made chair or stool with a large, daisy petal-shaped back.

Made in Northern California from ethically sourced materials, including black walnut, white oak and popular re-harvested in the United States, Harrington worked with local furniture makers and artisans to master the sculptural details of the flower petals.

Harrington also tapped world-renowned color wizard, Eve Ashcraft, to create a custom color palette in rich, saturated tones for the seat cushion. All seats are made from Townsend Leather, a leathery that exclusively uses tanned hides from Europe.

“I wanted to create heirloom pieces that not only bring joy, but can also be passed down from one generation to the next,” she says.

These made-to-order chairs and barstools are available in wood finishes as well as lacquered colors in matte or gloss. The seats can be created in Ashcraft’s variety of bold hues in either leather or suede material. This wealth of options enables designers to get playful when it comes to finishes, lacquers, colors, leather and suede.

While considering the launch of her line during the pandemic, she considered how this time period impacted her clients’ perspective on their homes.

“If the pandemic taught us anything,” she says, “it’s that now more than ever, we need happiness in our homes.”
